Lunenburg County
4:40 AM AST Monday 2 March 2009
Freezing rain warning for
Lunenburg County continued

This is a warning that an extended period of freezing rain is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A warm frontal trough south of Nova Scotia will move slowly northward today as a low pressure system near Cape Hatteras moves into the Maritimes tonight. The low will track through the Bay of Fundy overnight and lie over the Gulf of St Lawrence Tuesday morning. The warm front will move over the province this afternoon.

Ahead of the warm front an extensive area of freezing rain and ice pellets under chilly northeast winds will occur this morning and afternoon. Behind the front southerly winds will bring much milder air and cause a change over to rain near noon in the east and later in the day in the west. The cold front associated with the low will cross the province on Tuesday and temperatures will fall during the day.

The public is advised that the entire province is forecast to receive four hours or more of freezing rain. The Annapolis Valley and northwestern Nova Scotia will see the longest periods of freezing rain today as it will take longer for the warm air to reach these areas. All regions are forecast to receive 25 millimetres of rain by Tuesday morning with up to 40 millimetres expected for eastern nova Scotians.

Lunenburg County
4:53 AM ADT Saturday 11 April 2009
Rainfall warning for
Lunenburg County continued

Rainfall amounts of up to 40 millimetres are forecast by Sunday morning.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A developing low pressure system near Virginia will move to lie near Cape Cod Massachusetts this evening before heading toward Nova Scotia. The low is expected to cross Cape Breton Sunday afternoon. Rain will spread across the province ahead of the low today.

However..Northeasterly winds will also develop. There is still ice in the Gulf of St Lawrence..Though it has largely broken up as April wears on. However there is enough to cause ice chilled air to spread through most regions tonight under strengthening northeasterly winds. As a result..Rain will change over to snow over northern regions and inland areas including the valley. Total amounts between 15 and 20 centimetres can be expected. ( 30 centimeters = 12 Inches )

In the vicinity of the low..Temperatures will be milder. Rainfall amounts will be most notable along the Atlantic coast where up to 40 millimetres can be expected.
(25.4 millimetres in an inch )

parts in blue are the ones that affect me on the south shore of the province, on the eastern atlantic side

We didn't get anything exciting from Sandy either, only about 200mm of rain. (8 inches +/-)
